Abaikan Surat Edaran, Mahasiswa Tetap Peringati Amarah
Makassar, Cakrawalaide.com – Meski ada pelarangan lewat Surat Edaran Rektor, ratusan mahasiswa Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) tetap memperingati tragedi April Makassar Berdarah (Amarah) yang menelan 3 (tiga) korban jiwa dan puluhan lainnya luka – luka, pada 24 April 1996 Silam, di Jl Urip Sumoharjo, Rabu (24/04/2019).
Didalam surat edaran Rektor No. 1161/F.01/UMI/IV/2019, yang menghimbau dan mengancam mahasiswa jika menggelar peringatan Amarah.
Sebelumnya juga sudah ada peraturan UMI No. 1 Tahun 2018 pasal 26 ayat 10Tentang pelarangan berdemonstrasi; “Tidak diperkenankan menyampaikan aspirasi dan unjuk rasa di jalan raya depan kampus Universitas Muslim Indonesia”.
Namun mahasiswa tetap memperingati Amarah, dengan alasan bahwa ada sebuah spirit perjuangan serta militansi yang harus dijaga dan diteruskan kegenerasi selanjutnya.
“Ada spirit perjuangan yang harus dijaga, dan dirawat sampai sekarang, hal tersebut tidak bisa dilupakan” ujar Cafer salah satu peserta aksi.
Dia pun menambahkan bahwa tidak pernah takut dengan aturan karena apa yang dilakukannya adalah hal benar.
“Kenapa mau takut? Kita melakukan hal yang benar dan negara sebenarnya telah menjamin hal tersebut bicara soal demokrasi dan kebebasan berekspresi” tambahnya.
Senada dengan yang diungkapkan Cafer, jendral lapangan aksi menuturkan tidak akan pernah takut dengan sanksi yang diancamkan.
“Kita tidak pernah merasa ditakut – takuti oleh DO ataupun skorsing,” tutur Def, selaku jenlap.
Para mahasiswa menganggap aturan yang dikeluarkan UMI bertentangan dengan UU No. 9 Tahun 1998 tentang kemerdekaan mengemukakan pendapat di muka umum.
Sementara itu, Prof Laode Husain selaku Wakil Rektor (WR) 3 UMI ketika dimintai keterangan terkait aturan tersebut mengatakan bahwa itu akan ditinjau ulang dan ketika ada aturan yang tidak sesuai dengan Undang-Undang (UU) akan direvisi ulang.
“Kita akan baca ulang, perhatikan aturan, dan akan meninjau ulang,” jawabnya.
Lanjut, WR 3 UMI menambahkan bahwa aturan tersebut akan direvisi pihak rektorat melalui mekanisme yang ada.
“Kami akan merevisi jika ada aturan yang bertentangan dengan UU” tambahnya.
Dalam memperingati Amarah para mahasiswa melakukan berbagai rangkaian kegiatan termasuk sholat gaib di depan kampus, kemudian longmarch sepanjang jalan Urip Sumoharjo menuju tempat Pemakaman Umum Islam, Panaikang untuk menziarahi salah satu korban jiwa pada tragedi berdarah tersebut.
Dengan memperingati Amarah Aliansi Mahasiswa UMI berharap semangat perjuangan seluruh mahasiswa bisa terdorong, dijaga dan diteruskan untuk menanggapi situasi kampus yang semakin kompleks.
